1. In Microbiology: Isolation, characterization and identification of different types of bacteria and
fungi, Microbial enzymatic assay techniques, Antibiotic sensitivity test and heavy metal resistance
test for bacteria. Preparation of bacterial culture for challenge tests, biofilm vaccine development &
its trial in aquaculture field.
2. In Molecular Biology and proteomics:
Isolation of DNA and RNA; Plasmid DNA isolation; RT-PCR; RAPD; Restriction enzyme
digestion;Cloning of PCR products using T-vectors; Semi-quantitative of in vivo expression of
immune-related genes; Primer designing and sequence analysis. Native gradient PAGE, SDS
PAGE, Western blotting.
3. In Immunology: Isolation and characterization of serum immunoglobulin & Development of
Indirect ELISA to determine antibody titre, Performing immunological assays (serum lysozyme
activity, myeloperoxidase assay, superoxide production assay, haemolysin titre, complement assay,
ceruloplasmin assay, antiprotease assay) to evaluate non-specific immune response in fish., Double
immuno diffusion, Cell counting by Haemocytometer.
